As I hiked up to the lakes, I had to keep slowing down. I wanted to hike faster but I kept losing my breath. I’m older than I was. I’m not in as good of shape as I was. I am at 7000′ for a day when I spend most of my life at 600′. I want to hike faster but I can’t. I have to find my actual pace. Finding it is hard because it is significantly slower than I want it to be. To find my pace and maintain it requires accepting who I now am. But once I accept that, I can make it to the lakes. Focus on pace, not speed.
